About Me

Let me introduce myself, my name is Robert Marlin. I presently live in Australia, but I call the world my home. Why? would I do this, because I am the type of person who loves to travel. For me the best part of travel and living in foreign countries is that you get to experience different cultures, and ways of life. The only way to truly experience this is to live, work, play and collaborate with people in their environment.

Enough about travel, now for my other passion, fish. This blog is all about fish as pets. This is a great hobby, one I have been enjoying since I was a little boy. I remember our family keeping a fish tank from when I was knee high to a grasshopper, we had Gold fish, Guppies, some Neon Tetras, and I remember a few fish called sharks. Not the sharks out in the ocean, but a fresh water species call 'Black Shark'.

I hope this blog will answer a few questions you might have regarding, how to start, what is the best way to setup an aquarium, and how to chose the right fish. I also look forward to any comments you might have, blogs are communal efforts so if we all work together we can have some fun. What I love about blogs is that they are a great tool to communicate across all scales of humanity, be it distance, language, culture, or any combination of these.

My next experience with keeping fish was when I was in my thirties, I installed a 5ft custom tank and just went crazy. I think I must have gone through almost all the different types of species out there, of course there are certain rules you have to follow. I mean you can't just put any fish together, if you do then you will just be feeding the less aggressive to the larger predator fish. An example is, you never put small fish with Oscars. These fish are related to the Parana from South America, and will pretty much eat any smaller fish if they feel hungry.

At the end of the day, I really enjoy keeping 'Japanese Fishing fish,' and my other favorite species is the 'Elephant Nose fish,' I loved my little friend with a trunk. As you can see there are so many different fun species to enjoy, there are rules, but if you follow them you can have many hours of entertainment and fun.

So, what are you waiting for? Go out there get a tank  and get going...
